Rat pest control in Kinross

For rat pest control in Kinross, instead of baits & various traps that we normally use in houses, we had to use ferrets for a rat trapped in a bedroom today.  The rat had gone to ground underneath the large bed and other pieces of heavy furniture. Our customer was having hysterics – well, wouldn’t you? – and the rat was nearly as hysterical as the customer. So, we had to use rat control as quickly as possible and as humanely as possible.Rat pest control in Kinross, ferrets in the bedroom

We could have used rat pest control methods such as break-back traps, spring traps or cage traps and then tried to scare the rat out from under the heavy furniture and onto or into the traps. The rat would have run around in a frenzy though because it was absolutely panic-struck, and it was unlikely that it would have been caught humanely by the traps.  We decided to put two ferrets into the bedroom instead. These canny hunters got underneath the furniture and bed easily and, hunting in a pair, they had the rat cornered in a minute. Ferrets kill smaller prey like rats instantly by breaking their neck; with minimum fuss and panic there was one squeak and the rat was gone, which was very humane.  All our ferrets are vaccinated for the diseases they can catch off rats so they are kept healthy.

Our customer said she had been hearing noises from the roof for a week but had convinced herself that it was just a few mice moving in for the winter; she hadn’t even suspected she might need rat control. She said she had been meaning to ring us but hadn’t got round to it; she was so cross with herself now for not doing it sooner. When we checked the rest of the house we found signs of a rat infestation in the attic so we laid baits throughout the house and outside to get rid of rats. We’ll be leaving the rat pest control in place too; our customer certainly doesn’t want a rat in the bedroom again.

Don’t try and ignore sounds in the attic or in the walls at this time of year. Don’t tell yourself it’s your imagination or that the sounds will go away. Rats and mice move into houses looking for shelter as the autumn turns to winter and you don’t want these vermin inside. They chew water pipes and electric cables, contaminate food and belongings with their pee and poo and disease and  invade all parts of a building.

If you’re worried about hearing noises in the attic or walls, or you think you might have rats or mice, then ring us for professional pest control advice. We can always come and do a survey to check for vermin problems and see if you need rat pest control or mouse control. Don’t leave it to chance; you never know what you’ll find in the bedroom!
