Can you spot the wasp nest?

Can you spot the wasp nest in this picture? It’s well hidden in the shrub, isn’t it.

If you look more closely you can see the off-white, papery cone that is so characteristic of wasp nests; you should be able to see the entry hole at the bottom right too. The weather was warmer this weekend than it has been for a bit and this rise in temperature made the wasps in Perth more active; you can see them see them crawling all over the outside of the wasp nest. If it’s cooler then you won’t always see wasps doing this.

Unfortunately it was so well hidden that our customers just did not see it at all in their garden. They were mowing the lawn, pushed past the shrub and both got attacked and stung by angry, aggressive wasps. It clearly wasn’t safe to leave it where it was so they called out our emergency wasp control and eradication service in Perth to get rid of the wasp nest.

When we eradicated the nest our technician was enveloped by cloud of very angry wasps; they were very active in the warmer weather and all absolutely furious that their nest was being attacked. The nests get quite big in late July too and contain hundreds of wasps, all armed with stings.  We wear full protective clothing when we deal with wasps’ nests like this and we remove all the debris and insecticides afterwards to protect the environment. Please don’t try to deal with wasps’ nests yourself because you and others nearby could get badly hurt; leave it to the professionals!
